Meet Dr. Gorman

General Physician

Education: MBBS FRACP

Dr Andrew Gorman is a general medicine physician who has also undergone dual training as a palliative care physician. After graduating from Monash University (2012), he completed internship and his Basic Physician Training at Monash Health and then subsequently completed advanced training in General and Acute Care Medicine at Monash Health, Alfred Health and Austin Health. During his advanced training he also developed an interest and passion for Palliative Care medicine which he feels complements general medicine well, and subsequently undertook training in this through The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Austin, The Northern Hospital and at Monash Health.

Andrew is passionate about providing care at a local community level and currently works between Dandenong Hospital as part of Monash Health, and at Warragul Hospital (West Gippsland Health). He is enthusiastic about junior medical staff teaching and education and is heavily involved at Monash Health in the Basic Physician Training program as a clinical examination mentor as well as holding a Clinical Teaching Associate position with Monash University. Andrew has an interest in cardiovascular medicine and in providing a holistic and patient centred approach to both an individual’s cardiovascular and metabolic issues but also their broader health and quality of life in general.

When Andrew is not at work, he enjoys staying fit and active and is a regular runner and cyclist. He is currently enthusiastically although probably ambitiously training for an Ironman triathlon. He is also a keen photographer with a focus on wildlife photography.
